Acupuncture treats Temporomandibular Joint Disorders
When you wake up in the morning and open your mouth to drink a glass of water, unlike other days, especially chin is stiff and it hurts when you open mouth and you feel a pain in one side of jaw. If one side of the jaw in the mirror looks extraordinarily different than the other side, then you should suspect a jaw joint disorder.
Symptoms of jaw joint disorders
Symptoms of jaw joint disorders are those that are difficult to open, sick, cracked on the chin, painful when chewing food, and open when the mouth is open. This appears to be caused by an abnormality in the jaw joints under both ears, which act as levers when opening and closing the mouth.
- My chin is aching and it makes a noise when I open my mouth.
- I can not keep my mouth open and close.
Most patients who have been diagnosed with a jaw joint disorder at a clinic visit have other symptoms such as shoulder stiffness, stiff shoulders, headache or severe migraine, and occasionally pain in one ear. These symptoms may be a direct cause of jaw joint disorders, or may be caused by affecting other parts of the body through jaw joint abnormalities. It is called referred pain when the cause part and the pain part appear differently by the crossing nerve domination etc.
The chin is a lot of pain when you talk a lot or move a lot when you chew food. The reason for this is that the pain of the temporomandibular joint often occurs at a certain time frame or action rather than sickness, because the nerve, blood vessels, muscles, and capsulitis passing around the jaw have occurred.
